A world where people feel they truly belong
Our vision is a world where people feel they truly belong.
We desire to collaborate with people from all backgrounds, regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, ethnicity. We respect and seek out inclusion of differences, realising that we can learn from each other.
We are an equal opportunity organisation. We value respect, dignity, and equity for all. We understand that inclusion, belonging, and equality are essential for a sense of well-being. Diversity, inclusion, equality, and belonging is key to our future development.
We support and advocate for the rights of those marginalised by society. We strive for Under the Rainbow members and clients to receive appropriate, inclusive support.
We are an LGBTQ+, neurodiversity and gender and sexual relationship diversity affirmative organisation. We are aware of diversity as a tick box exercise for many entities and strive to have psychological inclusion at the heart of our diversity ethos.
We are an anti-sexist, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-oppressive organisation. We believe that trans rights are human rights and we oppose all kinds of conversion therapy.
We are a therapy centre that offers Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy to our clients, with the Humanistic Approach as the foundational core belief of the centre. Many of our therapists offer therapeutic modalities such as CBT, Psychodynamic, Spirituality and Gender Studies. You can check out their Bios in Our Therapists Page.
The Under the Rainbow Therapy Centre came into being in 2018 when two of the founding members of UTR, Gillian Fagan, and Dermot McCarthy, both psychotherapists in private practice identified the need for a therapy space dedicated to clients from marginalised communities. It became apparent almost immediately that clients seeking therapy from UTR came from both marginalised and non-marginalised communities, their need for support being based on respect and dignity. Our national and international client base is compiled of clients from all races, religions, genders, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, and ethnicities.
Our therapist network is currently comprised of twenty-three therapists, from differing practice modalities, training institutes, ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, genders, and ages. We are united in our passion for supporting others from similar and different backgrounds to ourselves. We understand the possibilities for growth and learning for both ourselves, and our clients in working together. Compassion and acceptance are the bedrock of our therapeutic approach.
In the brief time our centre has been in being we have experienced a huge demand for both services and therapists, which was not envisaged at the inception of Under the Rainbow. We have met that demand by seeking therapists who share our ethos and passion and work with a diverse cohort of clients. We look forward to continuing our work, training, and development, adjusting to clients’ needs, learning from each other, and ultimately working towards a world where we all feel we belong.
